For gastric banding patients, annual blood tests are generally recommended as a minimum once stable, covering: Serum vitamin B12 Full blood count (to detect macrocytic or megaloblastic anaemia) Serum ferritin and iron studies Vitamin D, calcium, and parathyroid hormone (PTH) Folate Thyroid function and other metabolic markers as clinically indicated The specific tests and frequency recommended may vary according to the procedure performed, individual clinical circumstances, and local protocols
